New for 2024 - Pro/1/2 TT Prologue Equipment Change and Road Race (Stage 2) Starting Regulations
Pro/1/2 Men and Pro/1/2 Women categories ONLY may use any time trial equipment as permitted under USA Cycling rules. All other categories continue to be restricted to massed-start bicycles as defined by USA Cycling rule 1I1(h), which states "A massed-start bicycle is a road or track bicycle that is legal in all events within the road or track discipline, rather than a bicycle that is restricted to particular events. Handlebars for massed-start bicycles may not have forearm supports nor handlebar extensions or attachments that point forward. (i) Time trial events may restrict the competitors to mass-start bicycles in one or more classes, provided that the restriction is stated in the race announcement and technical guide. This includes time trials in stage races." Please refer to the USA Cycling Rulebook for more details on mass-start bicycles.
Any rider who does not start the TT Prologue (Stage 1) may start the next stage, but such rider will be given the time of the last rider completing Stage 1 in the rider’s category, plus a significant time penalty. See Tech Guide for full details.
