Women's New Racer Program

We are excited for another year of the Women’s New Racer Program - designed to help women who are new to racing and would like support from our amazing mentors and coaches.  

Who is eligible?

To join the Women's New Racer Program, you should: 

  • Be a beginner racer 
  • Attend the scheduled pre-race activities 
  • Be enthusiastic about learning and growing with our coaches 

 Benefits to joining

  • 50% off registration 
  • Access to elite level athletes as mentors and coaches 
  • A structured program (beginning Thursday, February 20th) with plenty of goodies 
  • Community-building with fellow female athletes 

To sign up, simply email cecile.lej@gmail.com, one of our coaches, expressing your interest in joining the program. Upon receiving your email, she will send you a discount code for 50% off your registration. We also kindly ask that you click here to fill out our WNRP form. 

Please note: the discount code is required to receive the 50% discount. No refunds will be issued if you sign up without the code and later decide to join the program. However, you can still participate in the program if you sign up without using the discount code.

Program Schedule

Wednesday, February 19th, 2025: Time 5pm

  • In-person meeting at Ren Coffee House at 5pm, also streamed as a Zoom call with coaches to talk about the weekend ahead (2hrs)

Thursday, February 2oth, 2025: 2:30pm-4:00pm @ Naranja Park 

  • Afternoon (2hrs): Skills clinic led by Cecile Lejeune and Lauren Hall
    • Grass Skills: braking, close riding, contact, bottle handoffs/grabs
  • Coaches/athletes will all ride to do some course recon of the circuit race course. (~30 min)
  • Evening (~2hr): Question/Answer session with last minute tips and instructions with coaches at packet pickup at Oro Valley Bicycle in Oro Valley 

Friday, February 21st, 2025:  Marana Time Trial (in AM)

  • Coaches arrive before the start of Novice race to set up tent and help riders prepare for Time Trial.
    • Answer any questions
    • Help with number pinning (teach how to pin numbers solo)
    • Warmup suggestions
    • Pre-race tips
  • Post-race debriefing

Friday, February 21st, 2025: 5:00 pm – Rio Nuevo Criterium p/b Visit Tucson

  • Attend crit in downtown Tucson with anyone wanting to watch a twilight crit

Saturday, February 22nd, 2025: Sahuarita Road Race

  • Coaches arrive before the start of Novice race to set up tent and help riders prepare for Road Race.
    • Answer any questions
    • Help with number pinning
    • Warmup suggestions
    • Pre-race tips
  • Post-race debriefing

Sunday, February 23rd, 2025: Oro Valley Circuit Race p/b Rutledge Dental

  • Coaches arrive before the start of Novice race to set up tent and help riders prepare for circuit race.
    • Answer any questions
    • Help with number pinning 
    • Warmup suggestions
    • Pre-race tips
  • Post-race debriefing

Meet your mentors


Lauren Hall

Lauren has competed at the highest levels, in dozens of countries. She was a member of the USA Cycling National team for five years, raced in four world championships, and a 3-time National Champion on the track. She was a member of the USA Cycling winning Giro Rosa team, the most prestigious women’s race in the world, and also won the Gent Wevelgem. She was a team captain for the last

Cecile Lejeune

Born and raised in France, Cécile now lives in Tucson where she trains as a professional road and gravel cyclist. She also coaches cyclists of all levels and having won Tucson Bicycle Classic in the past, she is excited to use her experience to best prepare you for the race!
